lesson
Use more than one clue
1 · Learn
In 'The old path reappeared after the leaves were swept away', re- suggests again and appear means become visible. Together, reappeared means became visible again.
Word parts help, but the whole sentence also matters. A word can have several meanings. In 'The bank beside the stream was muddy', bank means the land at the water's edge, not a place that stores money.
2 · Worked example
I combine the word's parts with the event in the sentence. The path was hidden by leaves and became visible again when they were removed.
3 · Your turn
In 'The guide asked us to retrace our route', what does retrace suggest? What does route mean here?
Check your answer
Go back over the path or journey already taken. Route means the way travelled. Use a dictionary to confirm an unfamiliar meaning.
4 · Apply your learning
Choose a new word from a book. Try word parts and context, then check an age-appropriate dictionary and revise your explanation if needed.
Adult guidance and safety
Read and discuss whole books, poems and plays alongside these original short models. Give evidence for interpretations and accept well-supported alternatives. Revisit spelling and handwriting over time; retain individual decoding support where needed.

Your pad is empty.
Open a UTF-8 TXT file from this device, up to 40 KB and 10,000 characters. It stays in this browser. Opening can be undone until you type again. Downloads keep a new copy; they do not change the file you opened.
Replace the notes on this page with the opened file? Download the current notes first if you want to keep them.
Typed notes are not submitted answers.
