Read more and shore

Read with an adult. Take your time. You can say, point, draw or write your answer.

Let's look together

Read more with your adult. The three letters ore work together in this word.

Now listen to shore. It names land beside water. Point to ore, then blend the whole word.

m + ore → moresh + ore → shorestorescore
Look, point and talk with your adult.

Watch how I do it

I blend sh and the sound written ore: shore. I say, 'We saw the shore from the boat.' My adult helps me with the meaning.

Your pad is empty.

Open a UTF-8 TXT file from this device, up to 40 KB and 10,000 characters. It stays in this browser. Opening can be undone until you type again. Downloads keep a new copy; they do not change the file you opened.

Typed notes are not submitted answers.

Adult notes · prerequisites, safety and coverage

Model the local pronunciation, including pronounced r in rhotic accents. Treat this as the spelling pattern in these words, not a universal instruction that r is silent. Follow the child's taught phonics sequence. An adult reads the instructions, models the sounds and explains unfamiliar vocabulary. Revisit a few words over several days; do not guess words from pictures.

Read instructions aloud. Word-reading practice must match the child's taught sounds. The phonics pages support, but do not replace, the school's systematic synthetic phonics programme. Shared stories are adult-read unless the child can decode them. Re-read and practise daily.
