Read before answering

Original narrative-time model, 'door': Jo hesitated at the blue door. The previous summer, a farewell had been written on its glass. This morning, the glass held only a timetable. Distinguish when events happened from when readers learn them. A past association can illuminate a present response without making the current event identical to the past one.
