A claim can conflict with its evidence - Paper 1

Read the information, then answer the questions. An adult may read the instructions aloud. Show your working where asked.

Read before answering

Original first-person passage, 'The photograph': That old photograph meant nothing to me. I left the heavy coat behind so that the photograph could lie flat inside my bag. Separate the narrator's claim from reported behaviour. A tension invites a qualified interpretation; it does not prove every detail false or reveal the author's life.
