Model light microscope: eyepiece x15, objective x10. Multiply these for total magnification. An observer records only a cell outline and a dark nucleus; no chloroplast is resolved. A later digital enlargement makes the same image twice as wide. Enlargement can make an image bigger without revealing new detail.
