Solid cuboid dimensions: 7 cm long, 5 cm wide, 3 cm high. Imagine complete layers of 1 cm unit cubes with no gaps. Volume counts three-dimensional space; surface area is a different quantity. Outside dimensions alone need not give a container's usable internal capacity.
