Use a hyphen to keep a word clear - Paper 1

Read the information, then answer the questions. An adult may read the instructions aloud. Show your working where asked.

Read before answering

Word study: re-elect means to choose someone again by voting. Read aloud: 'The invented club voted to re-elect its chairperson.' Spelling note: Re-elect places a hyphen between re and elect, keeping the repeated-action meaning clear. Read and discuss the model first. Then cover it while writing the word, uncover it and compare the letters. For question 3, create a new sentence rather than copying this one.
