Compare a rabbit and a chicken. In these named examples, the mammal develops inside its mother, is born live, drinks milk and grows into an adult. The bird develops in a laid egg, hatches as a chick and grows into an adult. Adults can reproduce. Some other mammals lay eggs, so do not generalise live birth to every mammal. Use records, not an animal-breeding task.
