Read beyond the surface events - Paper 1

Read before answering

Original miniature story: A village needed a replacement clock part. A maker's first model did not fit. The maker measured again, revised it and asked an expert to check before fitting it. A convention is a familiar story pattern, not a compulsory rule. A theme is an idea explored through choices and consequences, not merely the object a character wants.
