Read beyond the surface events - Online practice 1

Read the information, then answer the questions. An adult may read the instructions aloud. Show your working where asked.

Read before answering

Original miniature story: A traveller searched for a missing warning bell. The path was blocked, so villagers helped find another route. The traveller returned the bell so warnings could be heard again. A convention is a familiar story pattern, not a compulsory rule. A theme is an idea explored through choices and consequences, not merely the object a character wants.
