Vector project: a tree made from a trunk and leaf shapes. Problem: the trunk covers leaves that should overlap it. Vector objects can remain separately editable. Stacking order controls what covers what; grouping keeps relative positions when moving objects and is not necessarily permanent merging. Use original shapes in an approved tool, save and reopen the editable file.
