Read before answering
Simple series lamp model: switch closed; a wire disconnected elsewhere. Assume working matched low-voltage cell/lamp. Open means a gap at the switch; closed means that switch connection is joined. A gap elsewhere still breaks the loop. Discuss on paper; adults supervise approved low-voltage kits and disconnect between changes. Never use household switches or mains wiring.
