Word study: ascent means an upward movement or climb. Read aloud: 'The balloon's slow ascent began at dawn.' Spelling note: Ascent has sc for the s sound; do not confuse it with assent, meaning agreement. Read and discuss the model first. Then cover it while writing the word, uncover it and compare the letters. For question 3, create a new sentence rather than copying this one.
