Read before answering

Writing brief: write a guide for a new pupil about borrowing classroom books. Suggested paragraph headings: Choosing a book; Recording the loan; Returning it. Clear model: 'Return books to the labelled tray, then tell the teacher so the loan record can be checked.' Unclear draft: 'Put it there.' Your reader cannot see you pointing. Supply useful detail without inventing real school rules; this is a model writing task.
