Read before answering

Spelling focus: Notice ge and dge at the ends of words. Both can spell the last sound in jam. After the short vowel in these target words, remember dge. Meaning clue: a piece that is thick at one end and thin at the other. A comparison word is large. An adult can read the words and explain their meanings with you.
