Right triangle with hypotenuse 18 cm and chosen acute angle 30 degrees. Relative to that angle, the unknown shorter sides are opposite and adjacent. sin(30 degrees)=1/2 and cos(30 degrees)=sqrt(3)/2. Use these exact ratios; if checking on a calculator use degree mode.
