Original complete short passage, 'Theatre curtain': From the back row the stage looked smaller without its red curtain. Dust drifted through the work lights. Eli signed the inventory and returned the clipboard, but a strip of curtain cord remained in his hand. At the exit he found a knot in it, loosened it slowly and laid the cord on the table. He glanced towards the bare stage before the door shut.
