Original complete short passage, 'Music room': The corridor outside the old music room was empty. Inside, pale rectangles marked where the concert photographs had hung. Lena closed the piano lid and carried her books towards the trolley. A porter offered to take the final box. She thanked him and kept it. At the doorway she pressed one key beneath the half-raised lid, then waited until its sound disappeared before switching off the light.
