Answer the strongest relevant objection

1 · Learn

A persuasive argument should give reasons and evidence, then address a genuine objection fairly. Dismissing an opponent as foolish does not answer their point. Qualify claims when the evidence is limited.

Proposal: open the library later once a week. Benefit: access for pupils with afternoon clubs. Objection: staffing cost. A relevant response might propose a costed pilot, not claim that everyone will attend.

Key words and supplied examples.

2 · Worked example

A pilot with recorded attendance could test demand before permanent expansion. That is a plan for evidence, not proof demand is already established.

3 · Your turn

Why does 'anyone who objects hates reading' fail to answer the staffing objection?

Check your answer

It attacks people rather than addressing the cost and staffing issue.

4 · Apply your learning

Write a reasoned paragraph that acknowledges cost and proposes a way to evaluate the plan.

Adult guidance and safety

Use the actual supplied passage before asking for evidence. Accept alternative interpretations supported by precise details. These short models require wider whole-text reading, two authors studied in depth during the year, and the stage's Shakespeare provision before full KS3 coverage can be claimed.

Open a picture saved on this device to draw on it again. Opening replaces the drawing, but Undo can restore it. PNG only, up to 4 MB and 4096 × 4096 pixels. The picture stays in this browser; it is not uploaded. Paper lines in a saved picture become part of that picture.

Drawing is unavailable. Use the typed working area below.

Your pad is empty.

Open a UTF-8 TXT file from this device, up to 40 KB and 10,000 characters. It stays in this browser. Opening can be undone until you type again. Downloads keep a new copy; they do not change the file you opened.
