lesson
Retrieve the detail the question asks for
1 · Learn
Read this complete notice: 'The model exhibition opens at 10:00 on Saturday. Entry is free. The bridge demonstration starts at 11:30 and needs a ticket collected from the desk. The building closes at 15:00.' Retrieval means locating the stated information precisely.
Free entry to an exhibition does not necessarily mean every activity has the same entry arrangement. Read the qualifying sentence rather than answering from a familiar pattern.
2 · Worked example
To answer when the demonstration starts, I select 11:30, not 10:00. Both times appear, but they refer to different events.
3 · Your turn
What must a visitor collect before attending the bridge demonstration? Does the notice say a ticket costs money?
Check your answer
A ticket from the desk. No; it states the ticket is needed but gives no ticket price, so do not invent one.
4 · Apply your learning
Write two retrieval questions with distinct answers from the notice and identify the exact evidence for each.
Adult guidance and safety
Read the supplied text together if needed. Accept well-supported alternative interpretations, not invented evidence. Use wider whole books, poems and plays alongside these short original models; provide specific feedback on writing and revisit spelling over time.
Open your writing and drawing pad
Write, draw or show your working. Use a mouse, pen or finger. This pad is not a submitted answer.
Not saved to your account. Download your drawing as PNG and your typed notes as TXT before leaving or refreshing. They are separate files. Do not enter private information.
Open a picture saved on this device to draw on it again. Opening replaces the drawing, but Undo can restore it. PNG only, up to 4 MB and 4096 × 4096 pixels. The picture stays in this browser; it is not uploaded. Paper lines in a saved picture become part of that picture.
Clear the drawing? Your typed notes will stay. You can undo this action.
Your pad is empty.
Open a UTF-8 TXT file from this device, up to 40 KB and 10,000 characters. It stays in this browser. Opening can be undone until you type again. Downloads keep a new copy; they do not change the file you opened.
Replace the notes on this page with the opened file? Download the current notes first if you want to keep them.
Typed notes are not submitted answers.
