Repeat a sequence a known number of times

1 · Learn

A count-controlled loop runs a block of instructions a specified number of times. 'Repeat 4: move 10 steps' performs four moves, for a total of 40 steps in the same direction.

The repeat count and the amount moved are different numbers with different jobs. Say what one repetition does before calculating the total effect.

Repeat count: 4One action: move 10Total movement: 40
Key words and supplied examples.

2 · Worked example

For repeat 3 of clap then tap, the sequence is clap, tap, clap, tap, clap, tap. The loop repeats both enclosed actions.

3 · Your turn

Repeat 5 times: move 6 steps. With no turns, how many steps are moved altogether?

Check your answer

30 steps, because five repetitions of six steps make thirty.

4 · Apply your learning

Write a repeated movement algorithm, predict its result and implement it in an approved block tool. Compare actual and predicted movement.
