lesson
A network of networks
1 · Learn
The internet connects many networks. The web is one service that uses the internet to share linked pages. Other services can use the internet without being web pages.
A website address helps a browser request a page. An attractive page is not proof that its information is true or that a person on it is who they claim to be. Ask an adult before unfamiliar browsing.
2 · Worked example
I distinguish the school network from the wider internet. A document shared inside school does not have to be a public web page.
3 · Your turn
Are the internet and the web exactly the same thing? Explain simply.
Check your answer
No. The internet connects networks; the web is a service of linked pages that uses those connections.
4 · Apply your learning
With an adult, sort paper examples into local sharing and using an internet service. Discuss cases that could work in either way.
Adult guidance and safety
Use an adult-approved offline or school-managed application. Use invented data, original images and pretend identities. Paper models explain an idea but must be followed by suitable practical device work. Never enter real passwords or personal information in the working pad.
