A nucleus: The control centre of the cell, found in eukaryotes contains genetic material which defines the appearance and behaviour of an organism.

The cytoplasm: a gel-like substance where most of the chemical processes takes place, the cytoplasm is controlled by enzymes.

The cell membrane: a multifaceted membrane that protects and holds the cell together. This controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell.

The mitochondria: a tubular-shaped organelle where most of the reactions involved with respirations take place.

Ribosomes: a complex cellular mechanism that produces proteins from amino acids.
