- The process of separating two numbers into smaller groups.
- Division is a one of the basic operation of arithmetic.
- Some of the numbers are divided with reminders and some of them are not.
- There are 3 parts – The divisor, dividend and quotient.
- The divisor is the number that will be used to separate the dividend (the target number).
- Dividend is usually the bigger number, or the number that will be separated by the divisor.
- Quotient is the answer of the process.
- Example: 30 ÷ 5= 6
- Divisor —– 5
- Dividend —– 30
- Quotient —— 6
Here is an example with a reminder:
- Example: 28 ÷ 5 = 5 (R: 3)
- Divisor —– 5
- Dividend —– 28
- Quotient —– 5
- Reminder —– 3
